Browser extension
Add EDM to your browser
It takes under a minute. After that, browser downloads, video Download buttons and right-click links all go to Ezi Download Manager. If EDM is closed, your browser simply downloads as usual.
Chrome, Edge or Brave
Pick option A when the store listing is live, or use option B right now.
Option AFrom the store
One click, and the browser keeps it updated. Brave installs from the Chrome Web Store.
Option BRight now, from the folder EDM installed
The extension is already on your PC. Five quick steps:
-
Copy the folder path in EDM
In EDM, click Settings → Browser extension → Copy folder path.
-
Open the extensions page
Type this in the address bar and press Enter:
- Chrome
chrome://extensions - Edge
edge://extensions - Brave
brave://extensions
- Chrome
-
Turn on Developer mode
It is a switch on the extensions page: top right in Chrome and Brave, on the left in Edge. This is the normal way to add an extension that is not from a store.
-
Click “Load unpacked” and paste the path
In the window that opens, click the Folder box at the bottom, press Ctrl+V, then click Select Folder.
-
Check it is the real EDM extension
An “Ezi Download Manager” card appears. Its ID must be:
ajckfdnfglnmfnhjbbaaniehakddbhkdTip: pin it from the puzzle icon in the toolbar so you can see when EDM is connected.
Different ID? Then it is not the extension from EDM. Click Remove on that card and load the folder again from EDM's Copy folder path.
Firefox
Firefox keeps an extension installed only when it comes from Firefox Add-ons.
Option AFrom Firefox Add-ons (recommended)
Stays installed and updates itself.
Option BTry it today (until Firefox restarts)
Three steps:
-
Open the debugging page
Type
about:debugging#/runtime/this-firefoxin the address bar and press Enter. -
Click “Load Temporary Add-on…”
A file window opens.
-
Pick the Firefox version of the extension
Paste the path from EDM's Copy folder path into the window, go to the firefox folder in EDM's extension folder, and choose manifest.json.
Temporary: Firefox removes add-ons loaded this way when it closes. Use Firefox Add-ons once it is available.
Test it
Make sure EDM is running (it can sit in the tray), then:
-
Download any file in your browser
It should appear in EDM's list and download there, instead of in the browser.
-
Try a video and a right-click
Hover over a video to see the small Download button, or right-click a link and choose Download with EDM.
Not working?
- Check that EDM is open or in the tray. When EDM is closed, the browser downloads by itself.
- On the extensions page, check that the Ezi Download Manager card is switched on.
- Check the ID above. If it is different, remove the card and load the folder again.
